Ensure Your Temporary Power Is Safe

Temporal power is used at many locations, most commonly at construction sites. It is additionally utilized in factories and buildings during renovation work. Any electrical establishment, regardless of whether it is temporary or permanent, must be installed in accordance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

Many building sites are hazardous on the grounds that the electrician for hire didn't introduce satisfactory transitory wiring, use hardware that is in operational readiness, or have not taken precautions to protect the wiring and equipment. In many cases, the equipment used in the builders temporary power installation is not new and is not compatible with the environment in which it is used.

Proper planning should begin long before the electrician appears on the scene on the first day.

This includes-

Determining the electrical load to be connected, such as temporary office trailers, construction material trailers, dehydration pumps, special tools and equipment. Temporary power is installed in some emergencies, but you should always consider the environment in which it is installed, the physical protection required and the duration of use. If the equipment is exposed to weather and other corrosive effects, it is imperative to use equipment that is rated for outdoor use.

Another important issue at all construction sites with temporary site power is that the contractor/electrician needs to have exclusive control over the electrical equipment. Only "qualified personnel" must install, connect, and service temporary power equipment. Qualified personnel need to understand how to implement proper lockout/tagout procedures and how to troubleshoot problems such as "tripped" circuit breakers and bad earth-leakage circuit breakers. When an electrician begins testing and commissioning a building wiring system in the final stages of construction, only qualified personnel need to be involved in turning the electrical circuit on and off.

Conclusion

Do not treat temporal power as less important than what is installed for permanent installation. Electricity doesn't know the difference between temporary and permanent. Take the time and effort to plan the installation, coordinate the project needs and available electrical services with the utility or general contractor and finally use only experienced and "qualified" personnel to deploy the temporary system. Install and maintain to ensure safety and performance.
